Meet the Author: Katherine Towler
Our first guest in the Meet the Author series this year will be Katherine Towler. She will speak here at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 2. Her latest work is a memoir titled "The Penny Poet of Portsmouth". The book tells of her friendship with Robert Dunn, a brilliant poet who lived an untraditional life in downtown Portsmouth. More than a memoir, the book is also the fable of a shared journey and a portrait of an abiding friendship. You may have enjoyed "Snow Island”, “Evening Ferry” and “Island Light”, her novel trilogy  set on a fictional New England island.
Towler is a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned an M.A. in Writing at Johns Hopkins and an M.A. in English Literature at the Bread Loaf School at Middlebury College. She currently teaches graduate students at Southern New Hampshire University and works as a freelance writer specializing in school publications.
